This highly structured, two-year program provides the knowledge and training for all new Calfrac technical personnel to become adept at providing front-line technical support to our sales, technical and operations groups. Reporting directly to Calfrac’s engineering supervisor, technical specialists have a challenging and diversified job that involves communication with customers, data collection, treatment design (including hydraulic fracturing programs), and communications with the operations group to ensure successful technical execution.

The technical specialist program is typically aimed at engineers, engineering technologists, chemical technologists and petroleum technologists. It is competency-based and includes a clearly defined timeline, specific progress milestones and formal graduation. You’ll learn the detailed ins and outs of Calfrac’s service lines, field activities, equipment, and locations, through a mix of learning and activities including field exposure, lab exposure and exposure to technical duties in head office.

You’ll graduate as a well-rounded technical specialist with diversified experience. Among your skills will be the ability to put together a successful fracturing program that’s appropriate for the particular reservoir target and customized to the needs of the customer, and includes everything the field crews need to execute the job in the field – amounts, pressures, proppant, volumes, chemicals and all other parameters – to help our customers achieve a high-productivity oil or natural gas well.

The technical specialist program is the foundation of Calfrac’s career progression structure. Many of our senior people in key corporate areas used to be technical specialists. Become a Calfrac technical specialist and you’ll create lifelong career opportunities!
